Cambodian protestors clash with police after activist sentenced
Publication Date : 28-12-2012
Cambodian protestors clashed with police yesterday after Phnom Penh Municipal Court sentenced land activist Youm Bopha to three years for attempted violence against two motorcycle taxi drivers.
The protesting residents of property development sites at Boeung Kok and Borei Keila broke through court barricades but were suppressed by anti-riot police.
Motorcycle taxi drivers meanwhile hailed the verdict against the woman who was arrested on September 4.
The ruling came a day after the court released Borei Keila land activist Tim Sakmoni who was arrested on September 5 for incitement following a complaint by property developer Phanimex Co.
