Korea's 'sex scandal' prosecutor apprehended

Publication Date : 25-11-2012

The audit division of the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office of South Korea yesterday apprehended a 30-year-old trainee prosecutor who had allegedly forced a woman he interrogated over a suspected theft to have sexual intercourse with him.

However, the accused prosecutor, whose identification remains unveiled, will be investigated over bribery suspicion instead of the much criticised sexual assault.

The spokesman of the prosecutors' office said the accused prosecutor has risk of fleeing or destroying evidence, requiring detention.

According to the auditing body, much of the suspicions raised about sex have been confirmed as the man was questioned from early yesterday morning after attorneys of the victim have reportedly submitted three audio files suggesting the illegalities handed by the victim.

The investigators will delve into whether forcing sex could be regarded as demand for bribe.
