Publication Date : 29-10-2012

The Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry has lauded the government for its Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) that had boosted the country’s competitive edge.

Its president K.K. Eswaran said the efforts of Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak in ensuring the successful streamlining of the business processes and the implementation of the ETP through special economic committees should be appreciated.

“The prime minister’s continuous emphasis on business transformation has eased many bottleneck issues for local businesses and foreign investors,” he said in a statement yesterday, in reference to a World Bank report that Malaysia was ranked the 12th most business-friendly country globally.

This is the highest standing that Malaysia has achieved since the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation began compiling the annual ranking in 2005.
