ANN welcomes Myanmar's Eleven Media as new member

The Asia News Network has welcomed Eleven Media Group into its exclusive group as an associate member, Dr. Thein Myint, managing director of EMG, said.
ANN’s board of editors unanimously approved the decision, said Dr Myint.
Shigefumi Takasuka, deputy editor of English language Japanese newspaper The Daily Yomiuri, said: “The Eleven Media is outstanding in its quality and quantity of news. I welcome [the] Eleven Media as an associate member of ANN.”
The ANN is composed of 21 newspapers from 18 countries in Asia: The Daily Star (Bangladesh), Kuensel (Bhutan), The Brunei Times (Brunei Darussalam), Rasmei Kampuchea (Cambodia), China Daily and The China Post (China/Chinese Taipei), The Statesman (India), The Jakarta Post (Indonesia), The Daily Yomiuri/The Yomiuri Shimbun (Japan), The Vientiane Times (Laos), The Kathmandu Post (Nepal), Sin Chew Daily and The Star (Malaysia), Dawn (Pakistan), Philippine Daily Inquirer (Philippines), The Straits Times (Singapore), The Island (Sri Lanka), The Korea Herald (South Korea), The Nation (Thailand) and Viet Nam News (Vietnam).
ANN was established in 1999 to provide avenues for cooperation and to optimise coverage of major news in the region. It also publishes AsiaNews magazine. The network is supported by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and counts Star Alliance and Holcim as among its partners.
EMG editors introduced the English website (www.elevenmyanmar.com) at ANN’s annual coordinators' meeting in Bangkok on September 13.
The English website will carry the latest news happening across Myanmar and is also available on mobile phones and tablets.
The English website had a soft opening in Yangon on August 8.
