Nepal govt, unverified combatants ink pact
Publication Date : 21-09-2012
Unverified former Maoist combatants yesterday withdrawn their protest programme following a four-point understanding with the government.
Representatives of Discharged People's Liberation Army Nepal and Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Top Bahadur Rayamajhi signed the agreement.
According to the agreement, the government will announce a relief package for the unverified fighters.
It pledges that the wounded and disabled discharged fighters can claim treatment and other facilities from the government.
The former fighters' body will submit a detailed list of former unverified combatants to the government and further talks will be held in the presence of officials from the home ministry.
The former combatants have called off their strike slated for Saturday and Sunday.
