Another Tibetan sets self on fire
Publication Date : 12-08-2012
In the third such incident in five days, a Tibetan youth set himself on fire Friday.
Choepa, "around 24," torched himself in Meuruma, a village in northeastern Tibet while raising slogans against Chinese rule, and demanding Tibetan freedom and the return of the Dalai Lama.
Chinese police arrived "within seconds after the incident and started beating Choepa while he was still engulfed in flames", according to the Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharamshala.
Police doused the flames and took him away. He was reported to have sustained "serious" burns and have had "grim chances of survival".
