M'sian cycling team manager plans to quit following Olympics failure
Publication Date : 09-08-2012
Malaysian cycling team manager Naim Mohamed has taken full responsibility for the national team’s failure to win a medal at the London Olympics.
And he will call it quits when his term as deputy president of the Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) expires in 2014.
Naim said that he had targeted three medals in London, including a gold.
“But, as we have seen, it’s been a total failure. Naturally, I am disappointed ... not because we failed to do it, but because we were good enough to bag the medals,” he said yesterday.
“To return home empty-handed is hard for me. I bear the responsibility of failure and I will see that new people come it to offer their services to the MNCF.”
