The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) of Indonesia has confiscated 8 billion rupiah (US$845,397) in assets belonging to an alleged terrorist group in Medan, North Sumatra.

The assets were seized during raids conducted within the past 24 hours, said the operations director of the BNPT, Brig. Gen. Petrus Reinhard Golose.

"We have taken into our possession four houses, one shop, a number of cars and motorcycles, and money -- all of which adds up to a total of 8 billion rupiah," Golose said yesterday, as quoted by

Golose added that this operation was based on information provided by several suspected terrorists whom authorities had captured earlier. Two of these suspects are allegedly IT experts, who used their skills to raise money via the Internet.
