Young entrepreneurs from Asean, China to hold forum in Brunei
Publication Date : 30-07-2013
Young entrepreneurs from the Asean region and China will be convening from August 19 to August 21 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Brunei for the 5th Asean-China Young Entrepreneurs Forum (Acyef).
The theme of the forum, "Renewing Prospects for Growth", is expected to provide entrepreneurs with the opportunity to reflect on Asean's economic progress and prospects for strengthening business-to-business linkages between the regional bloc and China.
"We greatly commend the coming together of young entrepreneurs from various countries on an innational level. This will highlight the role of young entrepreneurs in shaping the future of the economies of their respective countries," said Hafimi Abdul Haadii, president of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Brunei Darussalam (YEAB), who is also forum chairperson.
According to a press release provided by the YEAB, economic ministers from Asean member states and China are also expected to take part in the forum, alongside senior government and business representatives from across the Asean region.
The forum is expected to bring together about 200 young entrepreneurs from across the region and China, and will "support Asean's vision for economic integration through people-to-people exchange and investment".
Hafimi added that since the first Asean-China Young Entrepreneurs workshop and forum in 2008, which were held in both Brunei and China, he has seen a convergence of the young entrepreneur networks.
He added that the participants will be continuing their discussions from other recently concluded forums held throughout the Asean region and China.
Acyef is a non-profit independent association that was established in 2008, which functions as a regional platform where entrepreneurs from the region and China can exchange information on cooperation, for the development of trade and economic relations between neighbours.
