Tibetan youth attempts to self-immolate in Kathmandu

A Tibetan youth has just been injured after attempting to set himself on fire at Bouddhanath Stupa in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Police said that the unidentified youth of around 20-25 years of age had tried to set fire to himself at a café near the stupa. Eyewitnesses report that he had shouted slogans against Chinese policies before pouring petrol on his body, and setting it alight.
Locals and police personnel immediately put out the fire. The youth was taken to Teaching Hospital for treatment, police said. Police have assured that he is presently in a stable condition.
