Raja Changez Sultan celebrates the moods and nuances of women in his series

‘The Thousand Faces of Eve’  is a series of artworks by artist Raja Changez Sultan that are currently on exhibit at the Full Circle gallery in Karachi.

According to the description provided by the gallery, the ‘series celebrates the moods and nuances of women as visible in their faces’.

While this might be correct, perhaps the more noticeable feature of Raja Changez Sultan’s pieces is that through these faces (or is it only one face?) he is also, at the same time, making an attempt to show what’s not ‘visible’, to reveal the unseen. There is a certain element of murkiness or blurriness in the artist's works that runs through all the pieces in the series, and creates a sense of enigma and mystery, alongside contributing to the aesthetic value of the paintings.

The exhibition will continue until March 29.
