Publication Date : 15-02-2013

At least seven people were killed Thursday when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a security check-post in the Hangu district of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police officials said.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shaukat Ali Shah, the suicide bomber targeted a security check-post located in the Tal area of Hangu, manned by both normal and paramilitary personnel.

Shah confirmed seven, including three Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel, were killed. Four civilians were also among the dead, including two women, while eight others were injured.

Security personnel cordoned off the area and the injured were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Nearby buildings were also reported to be damaged by the high-intensity blast which, eyewitnesses said, had left a crater in the ground.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
