Samsung seeks to expand presence in Vietnam

Samsung Corporation is keen on investing in large projects in Vietnam, announced Shin Kim, president and CEO of the trading and investment group of Samsung C&T Corporation.
In a meeting with Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on Thursday in Hanoi, Kim sought the Vietnamese government's permission for the corporation's investment in various projects, including the construction of the Vung Ang 3 thermo power plant in the central province of Ha Tinh, a shipbuilding factory in Khanh Hoa Province, Long Thanh international airport in Dong Nai Province and Long Son oil refinery in Vung Tau City.
Kim also praised the government's support and expressed his faith in the attractive investment environment in Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, the deputy prime minister hoped to boost investment cooperation with one of South Korea's leading investors in the country. He affirmed that the Vietnamese government would always support and create positive conditions for foreign investors to invest in Vietnam, regarding the successes of investors as the successes of Vietnam.
For the aforementioned projects worth billions of dollars, the deputy prime minister has asked Samsung to make the necessary preparations and undergo procedures so that Vietnamese authorities could consider them.
