Publication Date : 19-08-2013
Festivities to celebrate the 68th Indonesian Independence Day were marred by a fatal clash between two neighboring villages on Saturday evening in Gorontalo.
Ibrahim Husain, alias Roni, 25, died as a result of a number of stab wounds.
Roni and his friends, from Pilohayanga village, Telaga district in Gorontalo regency, were visiting the neighboring South Ayula village in South Bulango district, Bone Bolange regency.
An altercation between Roni's entourage and the local youths led to a brawl in front of South Ayula's neighborhood security post.
A detective with Bone Bolango Police, chief. Brig. Hendi Papendang, said Roni and his friends were in South Ayula village to ask for forgiveness as both groups had been involved in a conflict since early Ramadhan.
"Both groups were involved in the trading of insults and stone-throwing," he said.
"We have arrested four people, including minors, believed to have been involved in the attack of the deceased while two others are still at large."
