No show at Bible-burning fair in Butterworth

Nobody turned up for the alleged "Bahasa Melayu Bible-burning fair" that was to be held in front of Dewan Ahmad Badawi municipality field in Jalan Bagan Luare in Butterworth today.

The purported festival was scheduled to be held at 10am but the vicinity remained empty until 11am.

Policemen were on standby at the hall and a helicopter was seen patrolling the area.

Penang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi warned the public on Thursday not to participate in the event which was meant to jeopardise the national harmony.

He added that stern action would be taken against those involved.
