MH370 SEARCH: It will take us up to 6 months to recover, says MAS
Publication Date : 08-04-2014
Malaysia Airlines has vowed to bounce back from the MH370 tragedy.
The airline’s chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said MAS would recover from what was known as a market reputation issue following the disappearance of the aircraft on March 8.
“Based on other airline experiences in encountering market reputation, the process can take up to six months.
“We intend to do that and we intend to do that quicker,” he told a press conference yesterday.
Ahmad Jauhari said with the investigations ongoing, the company had a lot to do and was in the process of “getting itself together”.
Responding to a question on whether he would resign, Jauhari said: “I still have work to do here.”
In a reply to another question by a foreign journalist on the country that’s bearing the cost of the search, acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said that money was not a priority.
He gave the example of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Singapore, saying that the republic offered cooperation after its experience with the Silk Air MI185 crash.
“We are looking to work with them. They had no hesitation (in offering assistance) and we definitely didn’t talk about dollars and cents,” Hishammuddin said.
