Jokowi wants 24/7 security in Jakarta's public places
Publication Date : 25-02-2013
Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has ordered the city's public order officers (Satpol PP) to guard the National Monument (Monas) area and other open spaces 24 hours a day to maintain security.
Jokowi said that the city administration will start implementing the plan by next week.
The plan was initiated after the city had received a significant amount of complaints about public facilities being misused, the occurrence of crimes, street vendors as well as prostitution, he added.
"The Monas area is now ready and has been cleaned," Jokowi said during a visit to the Pancoran District on Friday, kompas.com quoted.
"Officers will not only be placed in the Monas area, but also at the East Flood Canal (KBT) park in East Jakarta as well as other places."
