Inquiry ordered on Quetta child bombers in Pakistan
Publication Date : 20-03-2013
The chief minister of Balochistan in Pakistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani, has ordered a judicial inquiry into the arrest of children allegedly involved in terrorist activities in the city Quetta in the province.
Police had recently busted a gang of children allegedly involved in terrorist activities in an operation in the suburbs of Quetta on March 13. The charge, however, was contradicted by family members of the children.
According to an official handout issued on Tuesday night, the chief minister has ordered that a judge of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) conduct an inquiry into the cases of these children and verify the nature and degree of their involvement.
“The children were involved in a series of bomb explosions,” Quetta Police Chief Zubair Mehmood told reporters.
Currently, the children are in the custody of the police, and being held for interrogation.
