Hun Sen, Hor Namhong meet foreign dignitaries ahead of Sihanouk's cremation

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong met Monday with foreign dignitaries attending the Royal Cremation for the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk.

Hun Sen first met with Jia Qingling, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, officials said.

He later met with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Prince Akishino of Japan, Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Hor Namhong met with other foreign dignitaries in town for the cremation on Monday evening.

These included Singapore Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Indonesia's Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto and Lieutenant-General John Sanderson of Australia, the commander of UNTAC forces in Cambodia 20 years ago.

On Sunday, the foreign minister met with Brunei Development Minister Suyoi Osman and Ha Kum-Loul, the presidential chief of staff of South Korea.

Sixteen countries are expected to be represented at the cremation, namely Australia, Brunei, Canada, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
