First budget of India's Modi gov't hit
Publication Date : 11-07-2014
Reacting to the first budget of India's Narendra Modi government yesterday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said it was clear now that the NDA government was "of FDI (foreign direct investment), by FDI and for FDI.'
She termed the budget as "visionless, missionless and actionless" as far as the common people are concerned. It is not going to stimulate growth and development of the poor, she added.
Bengal and several other states, according to her, had been deprived in both the railway budget and the general budget.
"The new government has just started functioning with a political vendetta. Morning shows the day,' she said.
Posting her comments on her social network account, Banerjee wrote: “We heard about a strong and vibrant India before the government came to power. We thought it would provide good governance. But from the beginning we are getting disappointed.’’
LF chairman Biman Bose said the budget had no provision for job generation, while corporate houses were being encouraged.
