Publication Date : 03-06-2014
Filipino hotel worker Marcy Dayawan, 40, will have to wait a little longer before she returns home after her release from the Abu Sayyaf stronghold in Jolo island.
She was released on Friday after 59 days in captivity.
Marcy, also known as Mimi is now resting at the Philippines Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
Officials said she would be returning to her homeland shortly.
“We are working out some documentary requirements for her,” said embassy press and information officer Johann Andan.
Andan said Marcy was in good spirits and was looking forward to be reunited with her family.
Marcy and China tourist Gao Huayun, 29, were abducted from the Singamata Reef Resort near Semporna by five gunmen on April 2.
They were released on Friday following negotiations between Malaysian and Philippines security officials with the gunmen who were holding the two women in the mountainous interior of Jolo island.
