Asean businesses see economic integration as an opportunity
Publication Date : 11-12-2013
The majority of businesses perceive Asean economic integration as more of an opportunity than a threat, a new survey has found.
The study by the Asean Business Advisory Council collated 502 responses from firms of different sizes and from different industries across the region.
It found that more than half of these companies considered Asean economic integration to pose a low or very low threat to their organisations.
Close to 60 per cent, meanwhile, said they felt that Asean economic integration will provide high or very high opportunity for their firms.
Businesses also continued to view Asean's competitiveness for investments positively.
More than half of firms that had engaged in export, foreign direct investments activities or who plan to do so in the next three years cited an Asean country as the most attractive market in the world for their investment.
