Publication Date : 06-12-2013

Seven Filipinos were killed in a suicide bombing incident in Yemen Thursday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday.

Of the seven, six were hospital workers and one was a doctor, DFA spokesman Rayl Hernandez told a press briefing. They have not been identified.

The victims were among the 52 who were killed when a suicide bomber crashed his vehicle filled with explosives into the compound of the Yemen defense ministry where 167 others, including 11 more Filipinos, were injured.

The other fatalities included two doctors from Germany, two from Vietnam, one from Yemen and a nurse from India.

They were said to be working at a hospital inside the compound that was most damaged from the attack.

“We condemn this senseless and barbaric act,” Hernandez said.
