24 Rohingyas among 27 held in Indian border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 27 people, including 24 Rohingyas, for illegally entering Bangladesh from India through Bhomra border under Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday night.
Of the arrestees, Nur Ahmed and his wife Mariam Khatun of Ahkar district in Mayanmar said they went to India in search of jobs a year ago through Taluigachha border in Satkhira.
Later, police arrested them from a factory in Tamil Nadu state and sent them to jail.
“We were released from jail after three months and BSF took us to Pakirdanga border under Uttar 24 Parganas district of Pashchimbanga on Friday,” they said, adding that the Indian border guards pushed them into Bangladesh on Saturday evening.
They further said that BGB men arrested them at Badamtala in Sadar upazila on way to Satkhira and handed them over to Sadar Police Station.
Subedar Nasir Al Gulzer of Bhomra BGB camp said they arrested 24 Rohingyas and three Bangladeshis in Badamtala area at around 10:00pm.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shahjahan Khan of Sadar Police Station said a case was filed against the arrestees for illegally crossing the border. They were yesterday produced in a court that sent them to jail.
